Highlight Reality Check
The Janice ScenesIntro…R&R are not having the most memorable moment in the hospital because they have seen ladies come and go, but, not Rachel, she's still waiting. A frustrated Rachel rants to the nurse, however, the nurse calmly says, "I don't think the next person is very far along…"
"Okay, then bring her in," says Rachel
While Ross & Rachel are distracted with each other, Janice is wheeled in by a nurse.
"Oh….my….God!" says a very nasally Janice as the wheelchair is paused for Janice to see R&R. Then she gleefully claps her hands. As the wheelchair is pushed by the nurse to the other side of the room. The camera focusses on R&R as they freeze.
Break…..for commercial…you must continue visiting this board during the summer…The scene reopens with R&R frozen. Paralyzed with an "Oh my god" look of their own. Meanwhile Janice is waiting in her wheelchair and is facing R&R.
"I…can't…believe…this!" says Janice.
R&R turn and face Janice. Ross says, "And yet…somehow….it's true.." Rachel smiles weakly.
"I mean this is great!!!" says Janice, "We're gonna be baby buddies" and laughs excited.
Ross whispers to Rachel, "Squeeze your legs together and cover the baby's ears!"
In comes Sid with a pillow for Janice. "Hi ya sweetie," says Sid.
"Hi…hi…sweetheart," coos Janice, then says very quickly, "This is my husband Sid…I don't think you met him…Ross, Rachel, This is Sid."
Ross & Sid shake hands as Janice continues, "I nabbed him a year ago at the dematologist's office. Thank god for adult acne!" then she laughs.
"I still can't believe it!" says Sid, "I'm the luckiest guy in the world!"
"Really?" says Ross
"What did he say?" asks Sid to Janice.
"You know what," says Janice towards R&R, "You have to speak very loudly when you're talking to Sid, 'cause he's almost completely deaf."
At the same time Rachel says, "Oh of course he is" while Ross says, "Oh, there you go."
Janice wheels herself over towards Rachel's bed, "So…congratulations you two, I didn't even know you were married…"
"Oh we didn't get married," replies Rachel.
"Oh no, no, " Ross says, "We're just having this baby together…but…uh…that's all"
"Why?!" says Janice
"Well, um….We're not…in that place" says Ross, "But…we're very excited about this"
"Oh…." Says Janice, "Well then, shut me up." She adds with a laugh.
"Just tell me how" Rachel says very softly.
"Uh oh..." interrupts Janice, not hearing a word Rachel has said, "I feel another one coming." She starts making a very nasally noise to try to get over the pain.
"Sid you lucky deaf bastard!" whispers Ross.
Dissolve over to Monica/Chandler who have found an empty adjacent room to R&R. As they try to get into the romantic mood...all of a sudden they hear...
"Ah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha" faintly off stage.
Monica/Chandler freeze horrified.
"Does that sound like Janice?" asks Monica
"If it's not, then there's 2 of them," says Chandler, "And that would mean it's the end of the world!!!" Curious, they stop what they are doing and go to check on R&R.
In the meantime, the curtain has been drawn to separate the room into 2. Monica & Chandler walk into R&Rs room and after a short chitchat, Chandler says, "It's the weirdest thing" (little thought pause) "Did I hear?"
He doesn't get to complete that thought aloud, because the curtain is moved back by the nurse to reveal...
"Mother of God!" gasps Chandler, "It's true!!!"
"Chandler Bing!" smiles Janice as she laughs.
"J-J-Janice" Chandler stammers with a phony smile.
"Not just Janice," says Ross, "But Janice in labor. Contracting...and everything!"
"Oh..." says Janice, "This should be easy! I have a very wide pelvis. She pauses, twists the edges of her blanket and adds, "You remember...Chandler?"
Chandler shakes his head. And, he starts walking over to Janice as he says, "Janice, I didn't know you were pregnant. Who's the unwitting human who's essence you've stolen?"
Janice feigns thinking. Then says, "It's You!!!" she points at Chandler. Then she points to her abdomen and adds, "This is yours!!!"
Chandler looks in back of him hoping some other guy "victim" is in back of him, but there isn't. Feeling very messed up by this new revelation by Janice, Chandler very upset says, "What!!!"
Janice laughs, "Look how nervous he gets!!! We haven't slept together in years!!!"
Chandler pretends to laugh, "That's funny!"
Then his expression changes as well as his smile disappears as he says, "Does it hurt?....Does the labor hurt!?"
Janice smiles.
Scene dissolves.
